#48 August 3, 2015

So it got hot this week! It wasnt super hot degrees wise but because it is so humid here you just feel like you are melting haha! I miss dry arizona heat. Joinville is one of the hottest areas in the mission and the members said last year there was a day that it got to be the hottest place on the planet! So if i stay here for summer sounds like thats gonna be fun... They have something here called thermal sensation which shows the degrees of heat that you are feeling because of the humidity and so that is what they go by because the normal gauge isnt accurate at all.

But anyways Joinville is really great! I really love the ward here! The members are all just super cool and really down to earth. So there are two wards that go to our building. It used to be one ward but was split a year ago. The other one has a bunch of richies but ours has really great people so im glad um here! There are a lot of returned missionaries as well so that is really cool! And the food here is actually amazing. Like the other day we were at the Godinhos house (they are an awesome family in the ward who was baptized two years ago but are some of the best members i know know) she made parmesan chicken and it was so good! So i dont have a lot to complain about!

The work here is like a said a lot different from Guaratuba. We just basically find and cut people every week so that we can try to find the elect and those that really want to be baptized. The best we have right now are Gabriel and Sonia and Sonia has been to church once. But it has been really difficult because she doesnt really understand our purpose there. Right now we feel like she kind of thinks were just the walk around pastors and it is really difficult to change that attitude in someone. The thing is that she loves the book of mormon and believes its true and reads it every day. But this week we are going to use that to try and motivate her more. I feel so bad for her. She is probably 55 years old and divorced so she lives alone. She doesnt have too much contact with her kids and i just feel like that would be so miserable staying couped up in that house all day! So we want to show her that the gospel can offer so much more!

But gabriel is really awesome! We have been slowly trying to change into the missionary attitude with him and show our real purpose there because the other elders who started teaching him six months ago would go over there and stay for hours watching tv with him... Really frustrating but he is a good guy! He was living with an inactive sister in the ward who used to be really solid but just made some bad decisions. But now they have been going to church pretty regularly and they just need to get married now. So I think our greatest hope is with him!

But I did an exchange with Elder Malkum the other day, one of the kids in our apartment and I love that guy! He has a few problems with rules and stuff but he serves everyone as much as he can and loves helping others. He is a great example of Christ when it comes selflessness and being humble. He definitely forgets about himself in that sense. But they gave a really good idea for lunch messages to try to help members and what they do in their ward is go to the members house and then after ask the member to share with them what they studied personally in their scriptures the day before. And of course most of the members say no which I was a little surprised at first. Then they talk about the importance of reading their scrips and then say the next lunch we are gonna ask the same thing. So we started doing that with some in our area and it is crazy how many members dont have the habit of personal scripture study! They are great awesome people but it shows really how hard it is to put that in first priority during our lives. It is something so simple but also so difficult for us as members to do but really will make all the difference!

Im so thankful for awesome parents I have who I always saw studying the scriptures! That is probably one of the greatest examples I always saw from them as a kid. And I know that is one of the biggest reasons that I am out here on a mission today. Thanks mom and dad!

But anyways I love and miss you all and hope that you are all doing great! Have an awesome week!

#47 July 27, 2015

Well this week was totally sweet! On thursday we went down to Itajai and had a big mission conference with a seventy names Elder Leal who is just a powerful guy. He was so awesome! He is from são paulo and was baptized at 17 years old and then served a mission in a time when very few brazilians were serving. And he went to Portugal!

But anyways he is an amazing teacher. He spoke really quietly and soft but the spirit that he used was so strong! He talked to us about how to be real messengers of Christ and better teachers. He put a bar graph on a white board and numbered it 0 through 10. On one side he put teaching techniques and on the other he put attributes of Christ. Then he went through one by one asking us what we thought the mission used more or where we were on the scale. Five being a perfect balance of what we need between the two. we came to the conclusion that we were a 2 or 3 mission because we rely more on the ways to convince a man by ideas that came from man than on the spirit. He taught us that we still need to use techniques but we also have to rely on the spirit and be the examples of Christ so we can teach with more power and then the people will be convinced!

One big thing he talked about was knowing that our President was called by God. In our mission unfortunately we have a lot of missionaries that dont like President and think he just makes up rules to make it so that we cant have fun on our missions. It is kind of ridiculous but Elder Leal talked about that. He talked about how revelation really exists! It isnt some made of thing that they tell us to try to keep us in line but that our Presidente receives revelation for us! He was closing one of the meetings during the day when he was talking about this and so he bore his testimony and it was powerful! He said that he knew for himself that president silva was receiving the correct revelation for us because he knows that president did the last transfer one hundred percent correct, that every single one of us was in the exact area with the exact companion at the exact time that we needed. He said he has been to missions where presidents have messed up with that and he has to talk to the mission president. He said he can see and feel when a mission president has done it right because of the power of the spirit! How cool is that? The guy is so in tune with the spirit that he can feel when someone isnt in the right place! Plus that day was the first day he ever met President Silva! haha So that was a big addition to my testimony about personal revelation!

But one big thing that was reaffirmed at that meeting was the importance of finding a really powerful wife! Sister Silva and Sister Leal actually spoke a lot and they taught with awesome power and they are smart women! Elder Leal talked about how we have to train ourselves to be good husbands as well and that is why we have comps out here. Because marriage is hard and we have to learn how to use the spirit to work it out! And seeing these awesome couples on the mission really helps put it into perspective!

But anyways i love the new ward! The members are super cool and joinville is awesome! i have some cool picks including alligators in the middle of the city haha pretty sweet! But i probably wont be able to send them until next week because the church is so far away. But I love and miss you all so much and hope everything is going great! Read your scriptures every day!

#46 July 20, 2015 Following the Spirit

Alright this week was totally awesome! Im not gonna lie it was hard and we are starting with nothing but that forced us to turn to the Lord in everything we did and it turned out super great!

Alright so numbers wise this was the worst week of my entire mission! Like it was horrible... haha everyone is German here and we get a lot of no's but the lord also blessed Elder Reid and I to find new people who were willing to listen to our message. So for you guys to have an idea we taught seven lessons this week. One a day. Thats never happened on my mission! Haha Normally three a day is a bad day! In Guaratuba you could like convince the people to let you come in for fifteen minutes so you could share a little bit about the restoration but here people want nothing to do with you! But it was awesome because every day we would talk to members but of course they dont have anything so we knocked doors, and every day at the end of the day the Lord helped us find someone who would let us in! And with Elder Reid I feel like i am learning how to listen to the spirit like never before. Just this week alone I have had so many experiences where we both catch eachother thinking the same exact thing and then realizing it was totally from the spirit. In every lesson as well we really realied on the lord and in the times that we got stuck, we would pause (which i absolutely hate doing and elder reid is helping me get better at that) listen to the spirit, and then respond! And the lessons are turning out awesome!

We had a really awesome example of how to follow the spirit in one of our lessons this week. This old lady let us in and it was her and her daughter and the daughters husband and we got talking to them trying to get to know them a little better and because it would be the first lesson we were just thinking we had to share the restoration. but we knew the people didnt have a lot of time so we could only share a part. And i wanted to start teaching the restoration but there was something just yelling dont do it! And so I was like then what the heck are we supposed to teach??? Then I thought we have to go with the last part of the plan of salvation. So we taught the spirit world and the kingdoms of glory. The ladies husband had died five years ago and it was awesome to use that in the lesson to help her and afterwards reid said he felt the exact same thing! that we had to teach spirit world and the degrees of glory. I thought that was super awesome to see that we had each gotten in tune enough with the spirit that we knew what we needed to teach without even talking! It was awesome! And we had multiple experiences like that every single day this week! I love knowing that we have the spirit with us.

Reid is totally awesome because he is the first comp i got that loves analyzing the lessons and thinking back on what we could have done better with everything and we get along great because we both love the gospel and we want to get better! It is really simple when it all comes down to it. Good companionship is just a desire to follow God and not our own ideas. He has only been in Brasil for 9 weeks but is speaking awesome so that is really great!

Also I learned a huge lesson this week. In our district I knew there was a certain elder that would be with us. I was in the MTC with him and lets just say he wasnt too focused on his purpose. So of course, good ol Elder Keller is already judging this guy before he even gets to the apartment and thinking am probably gonna have to fight with this guy to get him to do what is right. So then he got there. And i learned a super awesome lesson this week! We have to really strive to get to know the people that we lead or who are in our care because then we start to learn how to love them just as Christ does. It is super hard sometimes but we have to remember that Christ and Heavenly Father love every single person no matter how bad they may be! I tried really getting to know this elder this week and turns out he is a really good guy! Sure he has some problems with president and rules but when I really learned about his past and how he got out on his mission i learned to see his potential and not what he is like right now. And he is a totally awesome kid! So we always have to remember to get to know someone and their story before we just write them off.

But anyways joinville is totally awesome and is stinking huge! haha we walk like crazy and the 3 kilometers doesnt do much because our church building as well as where we live isnt even in our area! haha We have to walk ten minutes just to get into the area and from their the church is already like 2 km away so pres said we could expand our radius to be able to work. But it is super cool here and they have really cheap really unhealthy hamburgers that we eat all the time so im happy (; Haha but the ward is really cool! the bishop is a great guy and the members flat out told us that they cant convince anyone to take the lessons but they are willing to go with us and do splits and stuff so that is really good! now we just gotta find people!

But I love and miss you all so much and hope your week goes awesome! The gospel is true!

#45 July 13, 2015 Transferred!!

Wow Im in Joinville now! pretty crazy! so last week president called and told me i was getting shipped out of guaratuba and sent me to joinville which is like 100 times different than guaratuba haha. but i am super exicted to serve here! the city is gorgeous and has a lot of german influence and is the biggest city in santa catarina! im already lost... but we are in a house with 6 elders and there are 8 in our district.

Im not gonna lie, leaving Guaratuba was super hard. I really feel like a created a special bond with a lot of people there and grew to feel a little bit of the love that Christ really has for us. I think it was most difficult saying by to miriams family because we were so involved with them and on getting them back to the church and to the temple! But Elder Moore who is from my group is totally awesome and is gonna take my place there so they are in good hands! I was the only one transferred out of there.

But now I am with Elder Reid who is just awesome! I just had one comp study with the guy and I can already tell that the companionship is going to be really great! He is from Daines group. Served in the usa for two transfers and then came over here! he has been in brasil for about 9 weeks but is already speaking super well!

Not gonna lie this place is a mess, because the apartment we have is huge so we are not gonna have a lot of time today or this week i think cuz we are going to have to clean up everything and change the house up a bit but I am really excited to get started here in Joinville.

The other Elders in the house are going to be Elders malkum, dos anjos, soares, mueller, and reid. Malkum is from my group and he gets here today, dos anjos has been in Joinville like 8 months out of 14 on his mission! i think once you go to joinville you dont leave! But its a great place so im excited.

I was thinking about it a lot when i was transfered and it was hard saying bye to guaratuba and i feel like i left it in good hands! We even got a return appt marked with that awesome couple luciano and ana lucia for next week who went off the radar because of phone problems! Also i realize i love change! We have to go through change so that we can grow! There is a big banner with a quote by Elder Bednar on it that President carries with him to all meetings with the mission that i think in english says, if we always do what we have always done, we will always have what we have always had.

And it is so true! We have gotta leave our comfort zones to be able to grow as missionaries!  But im sorry it was short im out of time but i love you guys and ill get more out next week!

#44 July 6, 2015

Alright so this week was great! We had to go to Joinville to get Elder Sulivans results for his knee and we found out he is fine he just has to do some at home physical therapy cuz there is water bunching up in his bones that causes pain but the exercises should be able to help him out.

Also while we were there we had to do some vaccination for the flu cuz president wanted us to take it so we had to go to a mall because that was the only place in joinville that accepts our plan and woah it was crazy! I know it doesnt sound like anything but it was like being back in America for a second! haha Joinville is actually a pretty nice town so it was pretty sweet getting a nice little american experience on fourth of july week! They even had a mcdonalds there! But mcdonalds here is like nice food so it is SUPER expensive! Forget the dollar menu. Haha. But i did buy a good ol' real american ice cream sundae and i almost died cuz it was so good! haha (ice cream here at least in all my areas is different).

But the work here is great! Now we are just waiting on people with dates for baptism so we have been trying to find new investigators this week and we have found a few good possibilities but the book of mormon shows really quickly if they are going to be good or not so we are probably going to try to find a lot more this week! Bruno has been smoking one cigarrete a day for a while now so we have been focusing on studying the book of mormon with him so he can stop! But im sure with your prayers and his own he will be able to (:

Vinicius is great and we taught all the big commandments and he doesnt have any problem and just said he knows that he needs to follow them so that was awesome! We are just waiting to find a problem but so far he has been super great (: We moved all of our baptism dates to the 25th because the whole ward is doing a temple caravan on the 18th so no one would be there! Transfers are next week so we will find out in this one whether i stay in guaratuba still or not! But either way I know the Lord is gonna put me where I need to be!

I love the mission because we learn so much how to trust in the Lord! we have got to learn that Heavenly Father has more power than any man so if we obey the commandments we will be blessed. I was studying the hymn A Poor Wayfaring Man Of Grief this week and I love that song so much! And its principles are so true! When we forget ourselves and help others we will be happy. Why? Because when we help others we are helping Christ. And I love it out here because we just get a tiny glimpse of his life. As small as it may be it helps us to understand at least a tiny bit more. And every time we help our savior we will be helped in return! It put a lot more meaning behind mosiah 2:17 for me. Thats why on our mission we have to study for our investigators and not for ourselves which has been something that was kind of hard for me in the beginning but now ive been applying it and in the end i get more revelation during my studies because of it! So we have always gotta be looking out for others and trying to help them.

The relief society pres here is the hardest working member and visits everyone in the world! She is awesome! No one in the ward works that hard. She was called 2 months ago as there family was struggling financially because they had just opened up a fruit shop and didnt have any time. But she didnt complain about how it was hard, she went to work and now her family is being super blessed because of it! It is so awesome! And she doesnt have a car yet she will visit people super far away still! And I think about myself in that position and i probably would have done the opposite because I would have been thinking about myself.

But anyways im out of time but I love and miss everyone so much! Family you are so lucky to be in washington! Have fun and take a ton of pics for me! Have a great week everyone!

#43 June 29, 2015 A Referral--Vinicius

This week went pretty great! The weather has been awesome! Sunny and cold! It is great! But the work is going awesome here! We have three investigators that are really solid, Edson, Bruno, and Lucas! Edson broke his hip a while back and has been recovering so couldnt leave his bed until now so we are hoping he comes to church this week! He is almost done reading the book of mormon now and he has had it for 3 weeks i think? Pretty cool! Bruno is coming to church every week and goes to all the activities he just has to stop drinking coffee and smoking and then he will be good to go for the baptism! Lucas just has to get married but he, Adriana and their kid are super solid (: so now just comes the wait for all the papers to go through!

We also got a reference this week (miracle!) from the church site from a guy asking for a book of mormon. So we called him up and found out he lives right next to us! Then we went over there and met him. His name is Vinicius, he is 27, lives with his mom, has no job, and isnt going to school. His mom told us he doesnt really like talking to people and is really closed off. So we taught him the restoration, taught him about the power of the book of mormon, he started reading it we went back and he is totally awesome! President Silva is telling us we need to invite someone to read the book of mormon and then go back the next day to see what their answer was because he said this is a one day answer mission! if the investigator follows moroni 10 4 then he or she is gonna get their answer that night when they pray! he said he truly one hundred percent believes that so we cant be wasting our time with people who dont want to ask! So of course I had very little faith in this but we did it and went back the next day to Vinicius. And we asked him and he and his mom said after he read he already seemed to be a different person! They noticed and he felt that he was changing and it was so cool to see the power the book of mormon has in peoples lives. Then he came to church on sunday as well so things are going pretty great here! (:

To be honest it is kind of frustrating because we have been trying to get back to Ana Lucia and Luciano to see how they are doing but we havent been able to mark anything... They are out of the radius so we were gonna go over there after a lunch that would be in their neighborhood but then the lunch fell through the day before... But it was remarked for this Wednesday so we are going to try to pass by there then.

We found another couple really cool families because that is something we have been trying to focus on and we are hoping everything goes well with them but I guess we will see!

But being on the mission makes me so grateful for the family that I have and for all the people in my life that have sacrificed something to try to help me out or teach me something to help me get to my mission! I mean we are always with talking with people whos lives are just falling apart and is shows how easy it is to give into Satan's temptations. It is hard to follow the gospel and very few people really do it! We found two less active twin girls a few weeks back. They were baptized when they were 12, have no family in the church and really didn't understand anything about the baptism or what they were doing... Now they are fifteen and each one already has a kid. and both the kids are one! Like how crazy is that??? And it is like totally normal here. It is so sad though because their lives are a total mess and those kids are probably never going to have a solid example to follow in their lives. I think about the most amazing parents that I was given and sometimes wonder how the heck did I get so lucky? You even talk to the other missionaries out here and their own parent have problems with scripture study and there are big consequences for that! Parents have to study their scriptures, and not just as a family but personally study their scriptures every single day or else it leaves room for Satan to enter in and destroy the family. I have seen in time and time again out here working with less actives and I am SO thankful for the two amazing parents who have always been such an amazing example of that! I always saw my parents studying their scrips! And it makes our family happier.

Point is personal study of the scriptures and principally the book of mormon is the key if we want exaltation. So we gotta study!

But anyways I love and miss you all! Time is flying out here and it is weird to think about! But hope you all have an awesome week!

#42 June 22, 2015 Fourth Day, No Water...

Alright this week I learned about how thankful I am for running water! On friday morning our water got shut off and so it has been an interesting three days! Turns out the office hasnt payed a lot of our water bills and the last one that we had to pay the owner of our apartment building never gave to us so we could send it to the mission secretaries... So yeah it has been very exciting here! haha we learned how to take showers with buckets of water and a sponge this week which actually works out pretty well! We have been grabbing water from the church sink for these four days and its been working out pretty well but we are running low on bucket water and we are starting to stink so we are really hoping to get it turned on today! I guess we will see what happens (: We were thinking about going and filling up the baptismal font but then thought that wouldnt work out too well... haha totally kidding about the baptismal font, But yeah be thankful for running water it is great!

But anyways this week was super awesome! From these big waves of new people that we are finding we found two awesome guys! This first guy is Edson and he is probably 65 years old and is stuck in bed with a busted hip for a few weeks and we taught him about the restoration and we were thinking that nothing would come from it and we explained how important the book of mormon was to him and about how we use it to get answers to our prayers about the church and he wanted to read it so we left it there planning on coming back the next day and taking it back (the silva method which works great by the way and no one has refused us yet) but we went back and the guy had read 53 pages and said he believed in everything that it said! Turns out he is actually super smart and was already using the footnotes and comparing everything with the bible so that was super cool! We went back two days ago and he was on page 300 and something! haha sweet! Hey Higley Manor ward, this guy is beating you all in the Book of Mormon challenge! (; Anyways he has a date in July we just have to wait for him to get better and be able to walk again so that he can start coming to church! (: And he has a car which helps a ton too because its super rare to find investigators who have cars so they can get to church so I mean from everything we have seen the guy is pretty awesome! Pray so that he can get better (:

Then we also felt like we should visit this contact we did like 3 months ago here (back with william) and so Elder Sulivan and I went there last week and invited him to church. He is about 22 years old and his name is Bruno and he came to stake conference this week and it was super cool! He loved it and at the end was asking for a book of mormon so we went by his house after and explained what the book of mormon was for and he is excited to ask if it is true!

Adriana (less active member) and Lucas (non member) are coming every week to church now and doing great and just need to get married for lucas to get baptized which will probably get finished up in a month! (takes a really long time here) So that is totally awesome!

Luciano and Ana Lucia we couldnt visit this week because we had to go into Joinvill twice this week so we lost two work days and we couldnt go over there with the member.. (another rule we can only visit people alone within 3 km of the church if they are out it has to be reference by member and then the member has to visit with us because there are so many less actives who have been baptized who afterwards realize they are not going to have a ride every week and so they stop going to church) But anyways they live outside of the radius which stinks so we have to go there with a member but we are gonna try going by this week!

But this week we are probably going to find out what is wrong with Elder sulivans knee so we are going to have to keep returning to joinville doing exams and then seeing the reports but pray that he will be okay!

But just one more catch up with the work, Douglas got the melchezidek priesthood this week and it was totally awesome! Now he is the first one in his family (miriam and antonios big family) to have the melchezidek priesthood! But i love that family so much! I seriously feel like I have the biggest connection with them and i pray that i dont have to leave guaratuba soon because they are all so awesome! When we got here none of them were going to church and now douglas has the priesthood to be able to bless his family! And I love the lessons with them! For sure they are the lessons where we feel the spirit the strongest! Because they want it so bad! They know they want an eternal family and their biggest goal is to get to the temple! So I am super happy for them (:

Things are super great here! I love and miss everyone so much! And special shoutout happy fathers day dad! youre the best dad ever and im so thankful that heavenly father put me with you! Thank you for being the best example ever and for all that you have taught me! You are the best dad in the world! Have an awesome week!

#41 June 15, 2015

This week went great! We got to go into Joinville again for a Zone Training that was pretty awesome! I will be sending videos and pics of it after (:

But anyways things have been going pretty good here. We are going to have to go into Joinville tomorrow because Elder Sulivan has some pretty bad knee problems that are resurfacing that he had before his mission as well so we are going to go to get them checked out. Pray that everything will be good with him! Going home and than coming back out is really hard for some missionaries here especially when you go home after such a short time in the field. But i think everything will work out okay!

Elder Daines and I were talking the other day (and i know i say this a lot in my letters but it is because we have awesome discussions about the gospel all the time when we are at the house) and we both came to the conclusion that we would probably never have been friends before our missions because we like totally opposite things! He hates all the things I like and I hate all the things he likes yet we totally get along great out here and we both came to a conclusion that it is because we both have interests in the gospel and we want to talk about it and strangely its fun! It doesnt make any sense but it works! And then we compared it to how marriage has to be after the mission (not that we are trying to get ahead or anything) and it shows how we have to find someone who really loves the gospel! That is a key! If you both love the gospel it makes things a lot easier. You take two people that dont have anything in common but then they can totally get along great if they both have the desire to learn more and put Christ at the center of their lives. It makes a lot more sense! That is why through Christ we can all come together as one!

It is super sad out here because all the time we see marriages that fall apart or families that arent happy and this is the reason. And i think i say this a lot but its the truth! I was studying D&C 121 34 - 46 this week and it totally has our key to life! Many are called but few are chosen and why are they not chosen? Because their hearts are set so much upon the THINGS OF THE WORLD and they aspire to the HONORS OF MEN. I dont have my scrips with my so sorry if i mixed that up a little bit but it is one hundred percent true. It later says that we must have charity towards all and we have to let virtue garnish our thoughts unceasingly... and then the doctrine will distill upon our souls. And I still feel like I totally stink at doing all this! It is really hard!  But that is why many are called and few are chosen because the more we learn to apply these principles in our lives, the more we will be able to have the right of revelation as well as the spirit. We cant give more value to the things of the world and the honors of men and thats the only thing I did before my mission. But as we strive to follow Christs example instead our families will become stronger and we will be really happy! Not worldly happy.

But this week Elder Sulivan and I were talking and we were trying to figure out why the ward is getting so weak here! In the two areas I have been in they have had wards that had a building for not too long but after the building had been built the ward had become really weak. And Elder Sulivan said the key was gossip. Gossip totally kills wards down here! There are so many less actives who left the church because of gossip. Like the scriptures tell us we need to learn how to control our tongues as well because that will show a big part of who we are. So we always need to be careful of what we say! And I have gotta work on that a lot!

But the work is going good and Luciano and Ana Lucia came to church! That awesome family we started teaching and I really hope it went well! The ward was like a jungle gym this week and it wasnt super reverent but I trust the Lord knows what he is doing so I guess we will see what happens when we go back to visit them! They had to leave like 15 minutes before it ended to pick up their son from work so we didnt get to talk to them. But it was awesome to have them there! We are working with two other families right now that are really cool but we dont know where it will go! Lauro and Cisa are parents of Leonardo and Andre and their family is super cool but are really strong in their church and dont like the idea that maybe their is only one true church but they are reading the book of mormon and praying so we hope they get their answer! The other is a couple by the name of Dico and Rose who are pretty young and have 3 little kids and are trying to find a church that they feel is right! So we are going to see how it goes this week teaching them!

But I love and miss you all so much and hope that everything is going great! Have an awesome week!

#40 June 8, 2015 Shrimp Season!

We had a good week! Everything is going pretty well here! We are basically just running around trying to find people who are willing to read the book of mormon and who accept the invite to be baptized and if not we take the book of mormon away and go to another house! So we teach a lot of other lessons and we are finding and cutting investigators a lot. But it is going great!

Elder Nascimento changed his name to Elder Sulivan. Pretty dope name! He is the new james cameron avatar! haha there are like 5 names in brasil that they use as there last names so everyone has the same so the missionaries just use their first name or they would be nascimento 1 2 or 3. For example we have da silva 1 da silva 2 da silva 3 all the way up to 5 in the mission! Pretty weird! Im so happy I get to represent the Keller name!

But anyways we went back and visisted that one family Luciano and Ana Lucia are there names and it went pretty good! They said for sure they will be at church this sunday because they were gonna be at the hospital working this last one so we are hoping to see them (: We might be going back this week with Irmão Adelmo so we will see what happens.

But a lot of the work we do here as well is trying to reactivate Less Actives and I love it because the Lord puts a lot into our path! Like this last week we felt like we neede to change roads and go talk to this couple and we walk up and turns out she was baptied four years ago and then stopped going to church. So we visited her and she came this week so that was great! She has a ton of problems between the husband and her so we are trying to help them work it out through the power of the gospel!

Irmã miriams family is doing great! They went back to fishing season and got back yesterday so this morning for a p day activity we went to check out there boats and the shrimp they bring in and ive never seen so much more shrimp in my life! Im in love! We are going to do an FHE on wednesday and leave a lesson with the whole family and then have a fish fry! Super stoked! Antonio, the Dad and Douglas are going to get the Melchezidec Priesthood on the 21st of June! We have stake conference that day so it will be a really cool experience! They have been waiting a long time to have a priesthood holder in the family now that can bless there lives so I am super happy for them! Before they would have to call the Elderes or a Brother in the ward but now they will have it for themselves and it is so awesome to see the change and the blessings that come into the lives of families when they start applying the gospel! Also Elisiane, the only one that isnt baptized is reading the book of mormon like a machine! Its so awesome! She cant get baptized because here "husband" dalton (another brother of the family) still is clearing up divorce papers from an old marriage and then they will have to get married but it is all going great!

Elder Daines and I were talking about this the other day and it al comes down to reading the book of mormon! Every time we find less actives or members that arent strong it is because they are not reading the book of mormon! That is what it all comes down to in the end! If you read the book of mormon every day you will have an unseen power to stand against the wiles and fiery darts of the devil as Benson teaches us! It is so simple and yet we still sometimes dont get it!

But everything is great here! I love and miss you all! Hope you guys have an awesome week!

#39 June 1, 2015 Gabrielle Baptism/ The ER Doc

This week was pretty great! Gabrielle got baptized so that was good (: We have also been striving to apply what President Silva has been teaching us about using the Book of Mormon and the Bible together so that they can each testify of one or the other because together they have the fulness of the gospel! It has been going great and there is a different spirit when we are straight with the people and dont try to beat around the bush about anything! But President told us we need to have a goal of finding two new investigators to teach every single day so we can just find the max amount of people possible and then we will pretty soon just find the elects who are ready to be baptized! This week we found 15 new people and we have marked to go back and teach them or we have already taught them again so that was great! But this way we can just always have a big teaching pool so we dont hold on to these people who are never fulfilling the invites that we give them. So this week has been going good!

So there was this family that we kept trying to get to teach because this brother in the ward gave them as references but they are out of our teaching radius so we have to be accompanied there by a member with a car. The member was Adelmo who is pretty awesome and was baptized four years ago and loves finding people for the missionaries! Just that sometimes he gets a little excited and we go to places where someone doesnt want anything to do with it haha but it is awesome doing visits with him!

But anyways we go to this guys house yesterday, Adelmo calls us and says hey in two hours we are going to go over to this families house and try to catch them by surprise and we didnt have any solid appointments, just people who we would try to pass by so we decided to go with him. So we get there and this guy who looks like Bruce Willis and all tatted up answers the door and turns out we woke him up and he just looked totally ticked haha! and we were all just thinking, uh no Adelmo got a little too excited (he hasnt stopped talking about this family for 2 months) So the guy lets us in and he is an e.r. doc and he just got done working 36 hours and we woke him up.. So that was awesome! So we sit down with this guy and then we start trying to break the ice (Adelmo met this guy installing cabinets in his house so he isnt really "friends" with him) and turns out the guy is totally awesome! His wife gets home shortly after we got there and it turned into a totally awesome lesson/get to know you session! They are the first family that I have found who is really intelligent and doesnt give into the whole pay me money and i will bless you crud and they have been for years trying to find something to believe in that seems right but right now the wife believes in God and the husband believes in a greater being than us but not someone who loves us like a Heavenly Father. He says he has seen way too many terrible things working as a doctor (especially in brasil) to believe in that but he says he truly wants to feel something to make him believe! This couple is just like Bops and Grandma Keller I feel like! They were the coolest people ever! They are about 50 years old, three kids, wealthy, swear like sailors, smoke, drink coffee and  wouldnt stop talking and asking questions to clear up the things about the church no matter how many times we tried guiding the conversation in the direction of a lesson but that didnt work. They basically asked every question that is answered by the doctrine of the missionary lessons and we explained that all this would be answered in other visits and then after an hour we tried to leave and they wouldnt let us because they wanted to try to make us food and ask more questions and point is we found a totally awesome family and something that will be a totally new teaching experience through a member and we have to talk to everyone about the gospel and never judge them. This family thought we were some crazy closed cult that did a bunch of horrible things but we were able to clear that up with them last night. But I have no idea where it will go with this family but I pray that it goes well!

The work here is great and so now we are just working on following up with all these news and if they want it great, if not we cut them and go to find those that do!

But I love Brasil and I love my mission! Guaratuba is totally awesome and it got to sweater weather this week which was great! We are having great experiences our here!

I love and miss everyone and I hope you guys have an awesome week! Talk with everyone about the Gospel! We cant deny the power of the atonement to them! That is why we have got to share it. Love you guys!

#38 May 25, 2015 Book of Mormon

Awesome week!! We went into Joinville this week for a double zone conference with Joinville North and Joinville South. I saw Elder Buck! It was awesome! He is doing great and it was super weird to see someone from the hometown. We were talking about how crazy it is that everyone else is getting there calls and that school is ending back home. The mission is totally flying by!

But the conference was totally amazing and changed a lot about my attitude of the Book of Mormon.
So President about 2 to 3 months ago made a new rule on the mission, we don't receive any more copies of the book of mormon! And at first a lot of people thought it was crazy but our mission needed for a few reasons.
One the last president spent the majority of the missions money for this last year in 6 months so Silva came in with nothing... Haha so the first was to conserve money but it wasnt the most important reason.
President Silva talked about how we all just treat the book of mormon like it is nothing and chuck it around to everyone without explaining the importance of the Book when it is the MOST CORRECT AND MOST IMPORTANT BOOK IN THE WORLD THAT WE HAVE TODAY! We give these people this book and tell them to read it but they dont understand how truly important it is!

So Silva said that we will only get new books when our number of baptisms in the area is the same as the number of books we had when the rule hit. If we dont have the same than we have to go to the investigators that are not praying and are not keeping commitments and we take the book back from them! Haha it sounds a little crazy but it actually works and they start to see how important the book is!

But there are a lot of missionaries in the mission as well as a lot of members who are pathetic rebellious lazy people that don't believe in revelation from God and were trying to go against President and basically just causing a bunch of problems!

So President had this last conference to try to show people why the book of mormon is so important and we have to find the people that really are willing to accept it and follow its teachings! It was totally awesome. He talked about when he was on his mission he and his companion started doing this and in a month and a half they baptized 80 people! Haha thats ridiculous! Then of course someone brought up the fact that we are in the south of brasil and that its "hard to baptize" here and President brought up a really good point that ammon was one of the missionaries that baptized the most and taught some of the hardest people! As well as a ton of other missionaries in the book of mormon. He asked the question to us is God the same in the North as he is in the south or does he just change all of a sudden because of a different area? And it is so true! We have to have faith that God is gonna help us out!

But the conference was awesome and he also taught how we need to use the Book of Mormon in our first lessons with people. How are we supposed to convince someone its true if we arent using the book?

So We had to go in to Itapoa to interview one of their baptisms Fernando and that went really well, then we went on Splits after to try and apply it and I went with Elder Sierras and we basically just used the Book of Mormon for everything! The only time we used the bible was to show one scripture talking about the book of mormon and then going back to the book of mormon to show them how it says the same thing. But it was sweet! We had a super strong spirit with us and we could see the difference.

But things are going great here, it is basically just hot again haha so the quick cold was just messing with us. But Bops and Grams, I got your guys letter and money! thank you so much! I love the mission stories you guys share with us! But I love and miss everyone a ton and hope you guys have an awesome week! Read the Book of Mormon every day!

#37 May 18, 2015

Well this week was great! Our trio is over. We got a new american names elder daines from logan utah! He is a really good guy! He was serving in montanah for 5 months and then came out here! He is super funny and is actually speaking pretty well already. So now im with Nascimento and Elder n. Lopes is with daines! So we are back to 4 in guaratuba!
But this week we went into joinville to get Daines and we also had to go to itapoã to do exchanges (i just realized thats what they are called in english not splits when its between missionaries haha) But it went really well! Itapoã is like an hour away south of us on the beach as well! The branch there is pretty interesting... Its got about 20 members ben it is really weak! The missionaries there Elder Sierras and Elder Mendes are more qualified to be the branch president there than the branch president haha! But they are doing really good work and principally trying to strengthen all the members there to see if they can help it grow! Rumor is the last bishop here in guaratuba who is coming back from being a mission president in june is gonna move there to try to wake em up! we will see what happens!

But it was starting to get cold here and i was super excited and then these past couple days just had a random heat wave! haha good ol brasil (: but who knows, maybe it will get a little better here during the "winter"!

But this week we had an interesting experience. There is a brother in the ward here named adelmo. He is totally awesome but the only one in his family that is baptized! his wife and kids are but his paretns and siblings arent. He wanted to take us to visit his mom and brother because he said they are in really bad shape because his brother is into really heavy drugs... So we went by there with him this week and we went into the house and the smell was just so sad! We had taught others who used drugs but nothing super serious. This guy is totally addicted crack and the house just wreaks of it. His mom is the sweetest lady in the world but has to take care of this 34 year old full grown man who has totally become victim to another one of satans tools! But we saw how drugs just totally detroyed the family! The dad left because he couldnt handle the son anymore and now the mom has major mental issues because of her son. And as we were sitting there the brother in the ward was talking to his mom and brother and I felt the weirdest most empty feeling i have felt on my mission! I felt like I used to feel before my mission, like I always needed to repent of something, or that something just wasnt right in my life and it was so weird! I literally felt like I had to get up and go repent of something that i had done! And i was trying to think about what I had done and then i realized i hadnt done anything but i literally just wasnt feeling the spirit! It was the strangest thing that has happened on my mission I think. But I think Heavenly Father wanted me to have that experience so that I could recognize what it is like to not have the spirit!

That is why the sacrament and our baptismal covenants are so important! It doesnt seem like the promise that we get in return from our heavenly father is as big to have the spirit to be with us always but it is everything! If we have the spirit, it means that we are keeping the commandment and remembering christ, and when we do that we are happy! It is so simple! We always need to strive to keep the commandments and align our will with Gods. That is one of the biggest principles that i am learning on my mission, do what God would have us do and everything will work out alright!

But everything is going great here in Guaratuba! We are working our tails off and loving every second of it! We are trying to expand our teaching group right now because we have pretty much cut everyone we were teaching except for a few. We will see how this week goes!

We go to joinville on wednesday for a zone conference with pres so im super excited about that and Ill get to see buck! someone from the hometown!

But I love and miss all of you so much and hope everything is going great! Have an awesome week and strive to keep the commandments and magnify your callings!

#36 May 11, 2015

Well yesterday was super bitter sweet! The days to call home on your mission are the worst/best days out here! You get to talk to your awesome family who you miss like crazy but then you realize you miss them like crazy! Haha I balled like a little baby! I love my famliy so much! It just stinks to think that people reject the opportunity to have their own families be just like the family that i have! The gospel is true. It is the only way that we can create a family so united and strong as the families of members of the church. And the fact that we have a prophet to lead and guide us helps us so much!

Here in Southern Brazil people have gotten brainwashed into thinking that you can pay your way into heaven and that if you go to church once a week and pay your pastor and yell for a little bit than youre saved! It stinks because they don't want to accept the fact that maybe you have to do a little bit more than that. If only people could see that keeping the commandments helps us out and doesn't hurt us! When we do what the Lord wants our lives are 100 percent better and we are 100 percent happier!

But anyways things are going great here in Guaratuba! We visited Dalton the first time this week! ( He is the Miriams son who just decided to start coming back to church) He had been in some visits with miriam and we have talked to him a lot but the other day we got to go visit his family! We went over there because they wanted us to help them dedicate their house and it ended up being super awesome! We explained about house dedications and what they are for, how they are for us to be able to better protect our families from all the evils of the world. Then we did the prayer and then we talked to them about where they wanted their family to be 40 to 50 years from now. And they told us they wanted a strong family in the church and that seeing the change in their brother douglas's family is motivating them a lot! Daltons wife, Elisiane isnt baptized but we set up goals with them to pray every day, start reading the book of mormon, and go to church. And this week they all went! It was the first time in a long time that all the kids and wives and grandkids of that family have been to church, everyone together! It was so great to see!

But they have gotta get married first so that Elisiane can be baptized but it is awesome to see the great change that is taking place with this family (:

Its starting to get pretty cold here actually! Its awesome! We still walk around with short sleeves but at night and in the morning it gets pretty chilly! And humid cold is so different! But it is 10 times better working in the cold than in the heat! Its awesome!

We just found out that we are going to have a conference in June with a seventy! So I am really pumped for that! We dont know who is gonna come or what is gonna happen but im sure it will be pretty sweet!

But anyways Happy Mothers day to all the mothers out there and especially to mine, the best one ever! I love and miss you all and hope you guys are all striving to magnify your calling and grow in the gospel every day! Have a great week!

#35 May 4, 2015 The Trio

Alright well this week has been a little crazy! So on tuesday Blanch and I went into Floripa and Blanch stayed there on the other said of the bridge in são jose! stinks that they are all gone but im liking the new guys! So in Floripa I picked up Elders N. Lopes (here everyone has the same last name so on the nametags they have to put numbers and other letters and stuff haha) and Elder Nascimento soon to be changed to sulivan. He just got on the mission!

Lopes has 5 months on the mission and is from Pará way up north in brasil! Nascimento is from the amazon! crazy huh? He is from manaus brasil. And he said its not all crazy indian people like we all imagine haha. But they are both really great guys and working in a trio has been interesting! I thought it would all be portugues from now on but they both really want to learn english so we have been starting up with that and its been pretty cool! Elder Lopes already speaks pretty well and just learned from video games and Elder Nascimento just studied spanish haha but he is getting there with the english!

So now there are only three of us here in guaratuba so we have been working our tails up because we got the work of the other companionship that was here as well! And because of that work we had a baptism this week! It was awesome! Remember that girl Giane that had the dream that her mom came to here and told her the church was true? Monica is her cousin and got baptized this week. She is twelve but strangely smart for a 12 year old girl... but they are at church every week and are liking it a lot!

The work here is awesome and the coolest thing ever happened last week! So this family of less actives that we are working with is doing awesome! There is Miriam, and Antonio. The parents! And then the kids are Douglas Dalton and Dennis. Douglas has two kids and his wife Camilla and they are all baptized and its been three years and now are super set on getting to the temple and getting sealed with their family and their parents! Miriam and Antonio just met with bishop and are ready working for it as well! This sunday the whole family came to church! I havent seen that ever happen while i have been here and the ward says its been a long time since they have all showed up. But it was awesome! they are these big rough, tatted up fishermen but it was sweet seeing them all there! Dennis even got up and bore his testimony and it was super cool! But I love seeing their progress and I cant wait to hear about them going through the temple!

But the work here is awesome! The ward is great and is working really hard! I love guaratuba and leaving this place is going to stink when i have to. but im gonna make the best of it while I can!

Also having Buck in Joinville is sweet! Ill see him this week I think! I talked to him on the phone last night because he is living with William who is our ZL now! Sounds like he is doing good! Cant believe I am gonna see someone from back home! Crazy!

But I love and miss you guys all so darn much! I hope you have an awesome week and that all the moms have an awesome mothers day!!!

#34 April 27, 2015 Camila & Camille Baptism

Well this week was absolutely crazy! First off I will finish up last weeks email. So this fourth missionary talk is totally awesome and talks about the four kinds of missionaries. First is the one who goes out and does what he wants and is not obedient and goes home. The second goes out and is the same but sticks it out and just lies to everyone. The third is obedient and does what he is supposed to but his mind and his heart are at home and his will doesnt become the lords. The fourth missionary "consecrates" himself in everything on the mission. He accepts that the Lord will turn him into something way better than he could turn himself into. The talk is awesome and its super long but the point that he makes about the fourth missionary is awesome and can be applied to any member as well. It is simple, when we accept the Lords will everything will just become better and easier. Clearly we will have challenges but we accept and have faith that what Christ has in store for us in worth it all in the end!

But we have been working with this family of less actives the whole time we are here! Miriam and Antonio are the parents and the kids are Douglas, Dalton, and Dennis. They are all about 20 years old already and the first two are married and all got baptized about three years ago. Miriam has been a member her whole life but is coming back to the church now along with her family getting baptized. The kids all fell away from the church though after the baptisms and stopped coming. But they are the coolest family ever! They are all huge fishermen and totally tatted and the last people you would ever think would be baptized! But they are amazing and I love working with them! Anyways we had an awesome lesson about the temple and the sealing power Miriam and Douglas and his wife Camilla all decided to makes goals to now get to the temple and we are super happy! And now they are coming to church every week! Douglas and Camilla have two kids, Andre and Maria and its so awesome to have the family at church every week now! I know without a doubt that we cant do anything without the spirit and its in those high spiritual moments when you can help people feel the truth of this message! I love my mission!

But anyways Guaratuba blew up this week! Willy, Helm, AND Blanchard are all leaving! And im staying. I dont know what happened but the Lord has got other things in store for us! It will be interesting! Helm is going to Blumenau, an all german city here, blanchard to são jose on the other side of floripa, and willy just became my zl haha! but im gonna miss them! This last transfer was the most spiritual, fun, happiest transfer i have had on my mission! it was such a blast! But we have to learn new things now. So i found out i am gonna get two companions and im gonna have to serve in a trio during this transfer! Im going to florianópolis tomorrow to get the other two elders and I dont know who they are so it will be interesting! All I know is that one just came out of training and one is getting here right now so this transfer i feel is gonna be a lot of prayer and guidance from the lord because i still dont know what I am doing haha. But I am excited for this transfer and i think its gonna be awesome! Im definitely gonna miss those guys but it will be good.

Willy and helm left yesterday so i get to be comps with blanchard for a day and its so awesome! We hope we become comps because just in this day we are figuring out really how to do things right! And we have such an awesome spirit together! We have the same time on the mission and we feel like we have been on the same exact track! So who knows maybe in the future!

But this week was great! Camila and Camille got baptized and it was awesome! (: I baptized Camila and Willy baptized Camille! They are gonna be such awesome members! (:

The work now is gonna be sweet because now I have to take all the work from Blanchard and Helm as well so it will be interesting to see what happens! We are going to be working our tails off!

But anyways I love and miss everyone back at home and I hope everything is going great! The gospel of Jesus Christ is true! And the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the ONLY church that has the fulness of that gospel today on the earth! And through obedience to the commandments we can be happy! Always obey! I love and miss you all!

#33 April 20, 2015 Birthday Pictures

Elder Keller's 19th birthday

I LOVE this house!

We told Ian to take the Elders out for a birthday meal.  This was not on his bday
because they were too busy, but later in the week

Elders Keller, William, Helm & Blanchard

Looks like 1/3 is banana nutella

I'm pretty sure this is the view from their apartment

Chimarrao- a traditional drink in southern Brazil made from the plant erva-mate.  When asked if they drink it sweetened one guy wrote, "Don't kill me dude.  We don't drink it like that.  That's only for little kids.  You gotta be strong and fierce to drink Chimarrao"  :)

Opening birthday packages

This week was awesome! I dont have a lot of time today but im gonna try to type fast. We went to Itapoá this week to do splits and it was awesome! We went with Sierras and Mendes. They have a Branch there and it is really sad because branches here really are super weak. They are thinking about closing it down! That is why it is so important that every member is a missionary and also knows the doctrine of the church! You cant just really on missionaries to do it all like a lot of the times it happens down here unfortunately.

But anyways Blanchard and Helm baptized giane this week, the girl that had the awesome dream of her mom in the temple! It was awesome! Camila and Camille are gonna be baptized and I'm super excited! Its gonna be awesome! Her husband hates the church but he is letting them get baptized. So maybe in the future his heart will be softened more! Camilla is 24 and camille is 8 years old and Camilla has such a strong testimony! She got pregnant at 15 but then totally turned her life around and is super awesome now and is even studying preach my gospel to be able to talk to her friends about the church at work hahah it is great!

The work here is amazing and we had a super cool lesson last night with a less active family! Im super mad cuz i ran out of time this week already but next week i will write about this fourth missionary talk as well as the experience that happened with this less active family!

The church is true and the spirit is the only way we can truly help people to be converted and truly touch their hearts! I love and miss you all! Hope everything is going great!

#32 April 13, 2015 Linda's Baptism

Linda's Baptism

This is back in his last area of Pato Branco at Bishop Vivian's house

At first glance I thought this was just a tiny little rock, but then I noticed the teeny tiny person
standing out there on the rock in about the middle.  Look carefully.

This week was especially awesome because we had interviews with president silva! And they are always totally sweet! before the interviews we do a study together of a talk or chapter in the scriptures that he has given us a month before and it is totally awesome! we are learning a ton with him! The talk we read was called Principles by Boyd K. Packer and it totally rocked! He talked about the better we serve on our mission the better we will become in eternity and in our lives as parents and leaders in the church! It's an awesome talk. It also talked a lot about how we really have to know the principles and the the doctrine of the gospel. The church is in danger when the members dont know the doctrine, especially the leaders in the church! And that is a really big problem here in Brasil. Where you have lots of leaders that make mistakes and they are really big ones. Im not saying its like crazy apostasy here but unfortunately at times it happens because they dont know the doctrine and principles as taught by Christ in the scriptures. The talk tells us that the most important time to learn about these things and really study is on our missions. And it is so true! Afterwards we have so many other things that we will have to worry about and you wont have 3 hours a day to easily study the scriptures! But it also talks about that when we do become leaders we still need to make time to truly personally study the scriptures. We cant just be comfortable with the excuse that we are serving in the church a lot or that we dont have time. We have got to study our scriptures every single day of our lives! Thats so important!

But also we learned a totally awesome principle from President Silva this week. A missionary asked the question, "why do we hear of the cases where a missionary disobeyed a rule and because of that he got a lot of baptisms, or a missionary who never was obedient and had a ton of baptisms on the mission?" Silva just burned the heck out of everyone! He just asked, "Was it that missionary that really baptized those people or was it God? Because if he thinks it was him than he is gonna have a really great time on the day of Judgment." It was a total burn! and it is so true! If we get a baptism it is because God let us be in the area when that person was baptized. And if we arent doing what we need to do on our missions than we will suffer for that! Or we will have to truly repent. We have got to give everything that we have on our mission and we can never make excuses for disobedience! The other night we got home late but we didnt really say anything about it... It was all four of us and we had just gottten done with a group lesson at a house where we had dinner. Then we got talking and we realized that that is huge! We cant ever treat breaking rules lightly! And then Elder Blanchard showed us an awesome talk called the fourth missionary. I havent read the whole thing, its huge but it is totally awesome. Basically it shows there are 4 kinds of missionaries and we have to be the fourth! And I was so ticked because I thought I would be in the fourth but then we all sat down together and read the characteristics of the types of missionaries and we all realized we are the third! I was ticked! But we all decided we need to buckle down and become that fourth missionary! So we are gonna study the talk this week so we can become that fourth missionary. I will probably talk about in next week!

But anyways everything went great with the baptism of Linda on saturday and it was awesome! (: Super happy for her! I sent pics to MOm and DAd. But i love and miss everyone and hope you guys are all doing great! Until next week!

#31 April 6, 2015 General Conference

Got to eat Subway in Joinville!! It's very expensive though so they only
go there when the mission pays for their meal, if they are traveling or whatnot…

Quick meal in between conference sessions

I guess this says that this is the first chapel built in South America

Sooo HAPPY to get mail & packages from home!

Cool view of the chapel in Guaratuba there on the left

Elders Arine, Keller, & William

Reunited with Elder Hess, my MTC comp

Every missionary in the world is probably going to talk about conference in this weeks email but I am too because it was so dang awesome!!!! Dang I feel so dumb for not actually listening and taking notes in every single conference since I was 12 years old! Conference is the best thing ever!

Anyways we asked Bishop if we could watch conference in English downstairs and so he let us watch it in the Secretaries office and it was so much better! I was able to understand it in Portuguese now but listening to the voices translating when you want to hear the actual voice of someone like Uchtdorf or Monson really changes things! Those who speak english are so blessed! It is way better in english! So Helm and I watched it downstairs in english and blanchard for some reason wanted to stay portuguese so he stayed up with william and watched it in the chapel.

But I cant even begin to decide what my favorite talk was from this conference... As always Uchtdorf and Holland rocked it but the seventies that spoke were all acutally super awesome as well! I feel like I got a lot of answers to not necessarily questions that I have but doubts in my mind, things that I have been trying to figure out on my mission and I was so thankful for that!

I also feel like I got put into place on a lot of things and that they were specifically for me! Especially when they talked directly about companionships and feeling like you need to change other people. The story was hilarious about the Elder that heard the voice say to him that to Heavenly Father we are pretty much the same lost people on the same path trying to get back to him. That was so awesome! I know I have always known that we all sin and that each of us sins differently but now I feel like I actually get it! President Silva has been teaching us a lot about how to have an effective scripture study and there are 5 key steps: First we must understand the context and what we are about to read about, second we must find the principles in what we are studying, third understand those principles, fourth feel the power and the truth of those principles through the power of the Holy Ghost, and fifth actually apply the principles in our daily lives. I feel like I was getting the first two with that principle but in conference I hit the last three!

It made me realize that really no one is better than anyone here on this earth! Jesus Christ is our true leader and that is the only thing that matters. We don't get or even deserve any glory here because really we don't do anything. The only reason we can get anywhere is through Jesus Christ and obedience to his commandments. Without his Atonement we would all be done for. And I have a HUGE problem with trying to find the errors in others when Im still an idiot 18 year old kid and have a ton of errors of my own.

But I love conference and Im super pumped to go back and read the talks! This week we will have interviews with President and Im sure it will be totally awesome! This week we went to Joinville for a zone meeting and it was great! We also went to subway and we felt in heaven haha! The work here is awesome and just getting better and I love my mission!!

Love and miss all of you guys!! Go back and study conference!
